What this policy covers
SonicStem is a web application for separating and analysing music. You upload an audio file, we process it, and you download the results. This policy covers the SonicStem marketing site and the SonicStem web app.
It does not cover other companies' services that you may reach from SonicStem. In particular, payments run through Stripe, which has its own privacy policy governing what it collects from you.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, your email address, and a password. The password is stored only as a salted hash — we never store or have access to the password itself. We record when your account was created, when your email address was verified, and when you last signed in. If you contact us or supply extra details when requesting access, we keep what you send.
Audio you upload
To use the tools you upload audio files. We store the uploaded file so it can be analysed and processed, along with basic technical details about it such as the file name, size, format, duration, and sample rate.
Results we generate
Processing produces files and data derived from your upload. Depending on the tools you run this can include separated stems, converted MP3 or WAV files, transcribed lyrics, chord and MIDI files, ZIP bundles of your outputs, and analysis values such as BPM, musical key, Camelot value, and LUFS loudness. These are stored so you can download them.
Billing information
Subscription billing is handled by our payment providers. Qualifying purchases are sold and processed through Link under Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe acting as merchant of record; other subscriptions are billed directly through Stripe. In both cases card details are entered on the payment provider's own pages and are not stored by SonicStem.
What we store on our side is limited to payment-related identifiers we receive back from Stripe or Link and the status they report: a customer identifier, your subscription status, whether the subscription was sold through Managed Payments, the end date of the current billing period, and whether the subscription is scheduled to cancel. Applicable tax is calculated and collected by the payment provider at checkout, not by us.
Usage and technical information
We record information needed to run and secure the service: which tools you ran and when, job and processing status, how many processing credits an operation consumed, error and diagnostic logs, and sign-in activity. Our servers also produce ordinary request logs, which include your IP address, your browser and device information, and the time and outcome of the request. We use the same kinds of information to detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
Support communications
If you email us, we keep your message and our reply, along with whatever you chose to include in it, so we can answer you and keep a record of what was asked and done.
How we use information
- To create and maintain your account, and to verify your email address.
- To run the tools you ask for and make the results available for download.
- To operate the processing credit system and show you your remaining allowance.
- To process subscription payments through Stripe and reflect your plan in the app.
- To send transactional email such as email verification and password resets.
- To keep the service secure and working — investigating errors, recovering stuck jobs, applying rate limits, and preventing abuse.
- To understand how the service is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell your uploaded audio or your results.
How long we keep things
There are two different kinds of upload in SonicStem, and they behave differently. We have described the current behaviour precisely rather than promising a deletion schedule we do not yet guarantee.
Temporary analysis-only uploads
If you upload a track only to read its BPM, key, or LUFS on screen, that upload is intended to be temporary. Analysis-only uploads do not create saved downloadable jobs unless you select Run Tools. Temporary analysis data may be removed after the analysis flow ends, and a short server-side fallback expiry may also apply so that cleanup remains reliable. If you go on to run tools on that upload, it is no longer temporary and the section below applies instead.
Saved jobs and downloadable results
Completed jobs and downloadable artifacts are generally available for approximately 24 hours, measured from when the last of that job's results finished processing. After that period the job may disappear from My Jobs and downloads may no longer be available, and the associated stored files become eligible for cleanup under our retention systems. Technical or operational cleanup may happen after the customer-facing availability window rather than at the moment it closes.
SonicStem is not a backup or permanent-storage service. You are responsible for downloading anything you want to keep while it is still available.
What we do not promise
Results becoming unavailable is not the same thing as the underlying files being erased. We do not promise that files are physically deleted at exactly the 24-hour mark, immediately, or on any fixed schedule, and we do not promise that every trace of an upload disappears with it.
Account records, billing and payment records, credit history, security records, backups, and logs follow their own limited retention periods and are kept for as long as your account exists and for as long as we need them for accounting, security, and legal purposes. They are not deleted along with an uploaded file.
Your account and requests
You can view and manage your account from within the app, and you can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe billing portal.
If you want a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion of your account and its data, email support@sonicstem.com from the address on your account. We will confirm what we are able to do and what the limits are before acting.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Traffic is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, session cookies are HTTP-only, download links are signed and time-limited, and access to processing results is tied to your account.
No online service can be completely secure, and we do not guarantee that your information will never be accessed without authorisation. Please use a strong, unique password.
Business transfers
If SonicStem or Pro Logic Ent, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information held by the service may be transferred as part of that transaction. If that happens, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you, and the information would remain subject to a policy no less protective than this one until it is updated.
International users
SonicStem can be used from anywhere. Wherever you use it from, your information may be processed and stored in a country other than your own, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Our payment providers may likewise process payment information in other locations under their own arrangements.
We do not guarantee that your information will be stored in, or kept out of, any particular country, and we make no data-residency commitment.
Children's privacy
SonicStem is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
Location-specific rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as rights to access, correct, export, or delete it. Contact us and we will tell you what we can do.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you.
